It is with great pleasure to announce that the RWCA has received funding from the Awards For all to support individuals in reaching their full potential by providing early-stage assistance. The programme will involve organising monthly support sessions for Turkish and Kurdish families to address two pressing community concerns: services for older people and youth involvement in crime and gangs. The community faces daily challenges related to the isolation experienced by older individuals following the Covid-19 lockdown; as well as the emotional burden of losing partners and living alone. To address these issues; the project will collaborate with Age UK; inviting them to provide valuable advice and guidance. Furthermore; we will try to actively engage with the Haringey Youth Justice Service to meet with parents and offer support in safeguarding their children against gang affiliation.
A significant learning outcome of this project will be the development of a regular initiative that specifically caters to the identified needs; thus testing our capacity for meeting these requirements while involving the community in the process.
