Violence Against Women and Girls Cost of Living Fund

The London Community Foundation

RWCA was delighted to receive essential funding to support women and girls in our community during the cost-of-living crisis. As financial pressures increased, many women and girls—particularly those experiencing domestic abuse and lacking financial independence—faced greater barriers to safety, wellbeing, and support.
In response, RWCA expanded its services to provide practical support and create safe, welcoming spaces for those most affected. We extended our opening hours to ensure women and girls had access to a secure environment when needed most. Free breakfast gatherings and coffee mornings helped reduce isolation and strengthen community connections, while arts and sports activities encouraged wellbeing, confidence, and empowerment.
Through this funding, we were also able to provide practical support for women facing crisis situations. Oyster cards helped women and girls access public transport and travel safely when leaving difficult or unsafe circumstances. Food bank support ensured individuals and families could access essential items and immediate assistance during times of hardship.
To strengthen this work further, RWCA recruited a dedicated support worker who reached out to women and girls, assessed needs, connected individuals with food support, and provided referrals to domestic abuse services and other specialist organisations.
This funding played a vital role in helping RWCA continue its mission of empowering women and girls, providing safety, support, and resilience during a challenging period for our community.
We extend our sincere thanks to The London Community Foundation for making this work possible.
