RWCA is pleased to announce that we have received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund to deliver the Birlikta Project, an initiative designed to provide early support for Turkish and Kurdish families within our community.
Through monthly support sessions, the project will focus on two important issues affecting our community: support for older people and helping families address concerns around youth involvement in crime and gangs.
Many older members of our community continue to experience isolation following the Covid-19 pandemic. For some, the loss of loved ones and living alone has created additional emotional and social challenges. To help address these needs, we will work alongside Age UK, providing opportunities for older people to access information, guidance, and support.
The project will also engage with families and parents around concerns related to youth safety and gang involvement. RWCA plans to work closely with the Haringey Youth Justice Service to offer support, information, and practical guidance to help parents safeguard and support their children.
Through Birlikta, we aim to create a regular community-led programme that responds directly to the needs of local families, strengthens connections, and ensures support is accessible to those who need it most.
We look forward to keeping our community updated as this exciting initiative develops.
